A House a Home

A House a Home is based on short stories by women authors (Clarice Lispector, Alice Munro, Kate Chopin), which address the themes of women and the juices of life, home, family and absence. It continues the themes of family and intergenerational relationships and the different roles of the woman-artist, which were central already in Oh, How Very Ordinary.

The performance happens at home, where the author lives. In a flat/kitchen set on a miniature stage, she dances through different situations integrating in it the personal and actual frame of the piece. Entrapment in the small space and possible feeling of entrapment of the “standard” female roles is not linked to victimhood but through humor guides us into the question of freedom, aliveness, maybe juiciness or even the magic of the mundane. The performance is thus a space in which the woman-artist-author, with all the aspects of life that are inherent to her position, takes space and puts them on stage in an equal but complex relationship.
