Gibanica 2015

Moving Cake (Gibanica) 2015 Biennial of Slovenian Contemporary Dance Art

Between 19 and 21 February 2015 the twelve selected performances will take place in Cankarjev Dom, Stara mestna elektrarna – Elektro Ljubljana, Ljubljana Dance Theatre, Španski borci Cultural Centre, Slovenian Cinematheque, City Museum of Ljubljana and . The introduction to 2015 edition, that will take place on 18 February in Cankarjev Dom and Slovenska Kinoteka, will be through a discussion and films dedicated to the work of Ksenija Hribar. Saturday Gibanica’s program will include a round table discussion focused on choreographic practices.

The programme of the 7th Gibanica, with the exception of the performance What If* by Maja Delak who as the jury award winner of Gibanica 2013 automatically entered the 2015 programme, was selected by a three-member committee formed by: Iva Nerina (Croatia) – a dance critic, Nina Meško (Slovenia) – an independent consultant for dance and Marc Olivé López (Spain) – programme director of Mercat de les Flors. The committee’s supporting argumentation to their selection includes the following: “We were looking for strong and authentic artistic positions that are pushing the form and the content of contemporary dance further from the safe zones and known strategies, whether in format, performativity, timing, content, connection to sound or interaction to reality.”
