ENERGY DRINK OF MOTION HARMONY
The performance Unnamed is a duo for two dancers, music and audience which surprises again and again with its uniqueness anchored in perpetuating the piece “The Show Must go On” by Freddie Mercury [Queen]. In this context, the authors and dancers take the side of the un-named, not-yet-spoken but nonetheless sensual self-reflection in which through a highly energetic nonconventional performing they delineate the world beyond that has yet to be formed where the spectator’s eye meets the sensual and physical world of the dancers. Or as they put it: “What is unnamed? Aliens on the planet earth? Communication? Reaching the unnamed through trance and ecstasy? Our moving power? A source? Our relationship, the feeling between us? The thoughts without words? It is unnamed only because we can’t articulate clearly? We again and again call it unnamed because the unnamed… remains unnamed… That’s why we dance!ˮ
Žigan Krajnčan and Gašper Kunšek are two promising names of the young generation of Slovenian dancers and choreographers. Their dance genre is a fusion of popping, hip hop, ballet, release and cunnigham techniques, krump, house and contact improvisation. In their joint projects they explore different spaces [realities] and ways of living within, instinctively making their way through them to the end of the ultimate experience of oneness. Through the fusion of urban and classical dance technique the memory of which remains inscribed in their bodies they develop their own distinctive dance expression. They are the seekers of a freedom that perceives dance and movement as the result of an emotion, energy and feeling. Despite their youth they have already won several notable dance awards in different fields. They work in tandem [currently within the project Alien Express] and their most acclaimed work is the interdisciplinary project Hidden Myth. Žigan Krajnčan has collaborated with many choreographers and directors, winning awards in different dance genres: hip hop, contemporary dance [OPUS] and electric boogie [IDO]. Gašper Kunšek has also won several awards in hip hop and electric boogie, the latest was at the OPUS competition.
