The creativity of performers, dancers and actors Katarina Stegnar, Branko Jordan and Primož Bezjak has in the past decade left a decisive mark on the Betontanc group, which became famous across the world in the 1990s as an urban movement scream of Slovenia in transition. From the very beginning, its wizard has been the theatre poet, director Matjaž Pograjc, the problem child of the Slovenian retrograde 1980s, who has managed in the past decade to create some extraordinary hybrid stage innovations with the help of the above-mentioned three actors and other members of his faithful team. With the performance SO FAR AWAY introduction to ego-logy, Betontanc Ltd. tackles the problem of ecology through the aspects of personal and local treatment of the environment and its global effects, at the same time choosing an interesting way to depict how the media genres of catastrophic environment reports backfire at the starting-point of consumers’ egoism in the very form of egoism generators.
