Dancer and choreographer Milan Tomášik comes from Slovakia. He studied dance at Conservatory J. L. Bellu in Banská Bystrica, at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and at the Brussels-based school P.A.R.T.S. and was brought to Ljubljana by his engagement with the Kovač’s group En-Knap. Now he lives and works in Ljubljana, having toured all of the important European contemporary dance festivals with his collective Les SlovaKs in the past years. Even though his dancing undertakings are relatively diverse, he stands behind them as a dancer with an explicit dance idiolect and a sense of dance playfulness. In the staging of Baga-Basta, Tomášik collaborates with Swedish dancer Alexander Gottfarb and musician Florian Kovacić, to create a sort of a dance playground, within which – so it seems – choreographic solutions are born from the starting-point agreement on a common “session” in which nothing is more important than being ready to play.
